Who we are

There's definitely no place like Bar Harbor's Fabricate, a year-round "island of inspiration" for quilters, scrapbookers, artists, cardmakers, beaders, and needlecrafters. Start with our building: it's a dome originally constructed as a bank in 1978. Inside this warm and welcoming space, we offer hundreds of 100% cotton fabrics in a rainbow of colors and styles...12x12 scrapbooking papers (more than two dozen of them designed by us!) in beautiful patterns and themes...and the embellishments and notions you need to get your projects done right. The shop holds a fabulous array of buttons, beads, ribbons, yarns, embroidery flosses and kits, stickers, inks and art supplies. Basic tools and notions abound. Nature themes and vintage designs find ample space, along with vivid batiks and seasonal products. And we guarantee that our Maine-themed offerings are second to none! From lobsters to moose, blueberries to pines, ocean to mountain, we have lots of items in every media to support your vacation artwork.

This unique business launched in 2008. We are constantly adding fun stuff into the mix, inspired by the craft books on our shelves as well as customers' suggestions and requests. We're always up for hosting open crops, stash swaps, and group projects. Call 207-288-5113 for more info.

Nurturing family, community and heritage is important to us. Everything we do is memory art! Owners Nessa Reifsnyder and Erin Cough are active, passionate genealogists who assist customers with family-tree research and can digitally restore customers' photos for use in their projects. Opening Fabricate has been a wonderful, affirming experience that has brought in people from all over the world, but we've especially enjoyed getting to know local crafters and supporting their work with what we sell.
